Tullamore Harriers Club Report 4th Jan 2021

Tullamore Harriers Hospice Mile

Despite the damp and dreary weather we had a great turnout for the Tullamore Harriers Hospice Mile on Christmas Day. Friends and families from near and far got their pre Christmas steps in and all for the wonderful Offaly Hospice Charity. The winners of the competitive mile were Bill Carroll..1st male and Imelda Lambe..1st female.

Thank you to all who supported our fundraiser either in the club or online. The aim of the Fund is to raise enough money through charitable donations to fund the building and equipping of a Specialist Palliative Care Unit that would provide first class services now and into the future for patients and families in the Midlands region. Again, thank you so much for your support.

The weather was next to perfect with temperatures of 12 degrees making for good running conditions. 28 club athletes lined out, heading out the front gate onto the Charleville Road, left onto Adams Villas and back into the carpark via the back entrance of the Tullamore Harriers. This loop is repeated 4 times.

Leonard Mooney was first home in a time of 16.29 with Darren Butler a close 2nd and Shane Origan 3rd. Fastest lady was Pauline Curley who clocked 17.07 with Evelyn Herlihy 2nd lady and Nita McLoughlin 3rd. Condolences

Mrs Imelda o Shea.

A dark shadow was cast across the club upon hearing the sad news of the passing of Mrs Imelda O Shea, wife of Life President, Brendan O Shea.

Imelda was a huge support to Brendan, and the club, throughout Brendan’s decades of commitment and loyalty to the club since the 1950’s.

Imelda was a soft spoken, kind and elegant lady who was liked and admired in equal measure by all who knew her.

The Tullamore Harriers Club extends our heartfelt condolences to Imelda’s husband Brendan, her children John, Orla and Emer, her grandchildren and the extended

O Shea and Clancy families.

May she rest in peace.
