Daniel Molloy wins the Christmas Grand National 2021.

Well done to the 30 club members who completed in the Annual Christmas Grand National. The hidden handicapped race started in the club car park, out the back gate, turning left at the rugby club, left again onto the Charleville Road and in the front gate of the Harriers. This loop is completed 4 times making up the 5k distance. This year’s winner was Daniel Molloy who worked hard gaining considerable ground on each lap. 2nd finisher was Sarah Stephens and 3rd was Liam Lynam. Liam Byrne was 5th and Nita McLoughlin 6th. Fastest man was Mike Murphy and fastest lady was Pauline Curley.

Thank you to all the marshals, time keepers and to our handicapper Joe Wrafter.

Tullamore Harriers Hospice Mile.

We welcome all to our Annual Tullamore Harriers Hospice Mile on Christmas morning. Call in anytime between 10am to 12 to do a lap of the track , many laps of the track or indeed compete in the Hospice Mile race which kicks off at 11am. Unfortunately last year we were unable to host the event due to Covid restrictions so it is extra welcome this Christmas morning.

Offaly Hospice Foundation is a voluntary fundraising committee founded in 1990 to financially support the Palliative Care services within our own county. Funds raised by Offaly Hospice Foundation have been used to employ Specialist Nurses and Carers allowing patients to be looked after in their own home. All funds raised helps to support patients and their loved ones when emphasis is gone from curing the patient to providing them with the best quality of life possible at this precious time. Palliative Care has advanced from Cancer only care to the care of patients with end stage Heart Failure, Dementia, Chronic Lung and Neurological diseases.

In 2019 the Offaly Hospice Foundation launched the Midlands Hospice Building Fund which aims to raise enough money to fund the building of a Specialist Palliative Care Unit in the midlands serving Offaly and surrounding counties. This specialist 16-bedded unit which will be sited on the grounds of the Regional Hospital Tullamore, is estimated to cost 10 million euro so fundraising is essential and Offaly Hospice now need donations more than ever.

Please join us on Christmas morning in Tullamore Harriers between 10am and 12md. Your donation will make a difference to this deserving cause.
