Tullamore Harriers Club Report 23rd November 2020

Run For James
Thursday 19th of November 2020, was a special evening for the club. Just before training, the Track & Field group gathered to welcome one of their clubmates  -James Saunders who made a long awaited and appreciated visit.
James was involved in a horrific road accident last year resulting in serious life changing injures and a very lengthy stay in hospital . Adrian Curley, club chairman escorted James and his parents John and Dympna to the viewing stand to meet his clubmates and coaches. Adrian called on Ray Delaney, Juvenile Coach to present a cheque to James following the club’s recent fundraiser – The James Saunder Virtual 5k. Adrian and Ray both congratulated James on his progress so far and thanked everyone involved in raising over 9000 euro from the fundraiser. Club members, families and friends from near and far donated to the fundraiser.
It was wonderful to see James and see how well he is doing since his dreadful injuries last year. James showed beyond doubt that he is working extremely hard and making huge progress. He showed photographs and videos of his physio sessions and made it quite clear that “it won’t be too long before I am back training in the club again”.
James is an inspiration to us all. His determination palpable and a credit to himself and his family. We wish James the best for your continued journey and look forward to having you back in the club once again.
Big Switch On
It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas !!
On Sunday evening the 2020 Tulamore Lights “Big Switch On” took place and 2 of our members had very important roles in this project. Rodge Larkin and his team have worked tirelessly over the past few weeks installing the fantastic display of lights. And for the year that is in it…Olivia Egan another club member, was nominated to actually switch on the lights. Olivia is an Intensive Care Nurse working in the Regional Hospital Tullamore and along with the many many frontline staff also worked tirelessly over the past few months. Olivia represented those hard working people this evening. Stay safe everyone and well done to everyone involved in brightening up 2020.
The chairman, committee and members of Tullamore Harriers would like to express there condolences to Brendan Abbott on the passing of his brother Kevin. May he rest in peace.
